Does your dog bolt out the door when you’re heading out? Or pull you along like it’s a race?🏎️🐾
It’s time to teach your pup how to wait patiently and leave calmly. Not only will this skill make your walks more enjoyable, but it also keeps your dog safe and sets the tone for better behavior.
Start by practicing at home:
1.	Use a leash to guide them to the door.
2.	Ask for a “sit” and open the door just a crack.
3.	If they rush forward, gently close the door and reset.
4.	Reward them for staying calm and waiting for your cue.
With consistency, your pup will learn that waiting earns rewards—and freedom.
Need help teaching door and other manners? Spot On Dog Training is here to guide you every step of the way. Let’s transform those chaotic exits into calm adventures. 🌟

Let’s be honest—some dogs just have endless energy! You’ve taken them for a long walk, tossed their favorite ball a hundred times, and given them every toy you can find. But somehow, they’re still ready for more! This can be especially true for high-drive breeds like shepherds, border collies, and lab mixes. That’s where training comes in as the real game-changer.
Physical exercise alone doesn’t always tire out a dog, especially when they’re wired to work and problem-solve. That’s why training can be an incredible tool. Training isn’t just about obedience—it’s about giving your dog a way to focus and engage their brain, which can often be more tiring than running laps around the yard! When they use mental energy to follow cues, hold a position, or perform tasks, it helps satisfy that need to do something purposeful.
Take a look at these pups, chilling out on their place cots! After a training session, they’re calm, centered, and content.
Training can be an amazing way to build the calm and balanced dog you’ve been dreaming of, and it’s a perfect alternative to endless fetch sessions that might still leave them bouncing off the walls. So next time your pup’s full of energy, consider adding a training session to their day. Not only will it give them that mental workout they crave, but it’ll leave them happy and relaxed afterward. Remember, a well-trained dog is a happy dog! ❤️🐾

Meet Finn! Greyhounds are truly unique, combining elegance with a gentle charm that makes them unforgettable. Known for their speed, they’re the fastest dog breed, reaching up to 45 mph. But, despite their racing potential, they’re often called “40 mph couch potatoes” because they love to relax and lounge around. Their calm and easygoing nature makes them incredibly sweet and gentle with families, showing a loyal and loving temperament. Greyhounds have a distinctively slender build, long legs, and a sleek coat that gives them a graceful and regal appearance—something that turns heads wherever they go. They’re expressive too, often using subtle looks to communicate with their humans, especially when they’re feeling playful or in need of some attention. Though usually calm, they enjoy a good burst of playfulness, running with joy, and then settling down for a cozy nap. This combination of beauty, loyalty, and an occasional touch of silliness makes greyhounds like Finn both wonderful companions and exceptional training partners. ❤️🐾🏎️

I highly recommend Spot On! Dog Training. I was ready to sign when the owner, Mike, showed me a demo using my dogs. On the morning I was dropping them off, I had some trepidation about leaving them for a week just because they had never spent the night out of our home. However it was the best decision I ever made. They came home with a solid training base that I can continue to expand on. I have two corgis, and they are incredibly independent and stubborn, but I finally feel like I have a handle on them.

I was apprehensive about leaving the dogs for a week, My Shepherd mix can be very anxious and afraid of things. The trainers got him out to a store and around strangers and he did great. We are so happy with the results and are doing our best to continue training so they don't lose what they have learned. The trainers were great and spent time with us on pick up day to go over all the necessary training tips. I truly think the dogs miss their new friends.

I recently took my dog Kramer to Spot On! Dog Training for their week-long board and train, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Kramer came back not only well-trained but also visibly happier. The team at Spot On! worked wonders—his behavior has improved tremendously. He no longer jumps on people when I have guests, he recalls quickly, and I can confidently take him on hikes and walks now without worrying about his behavior. The trainers are professional, patient, and clearly passionate about what they do. They took the time to understand Kramer's personality and tailored the training to his needs. Our relationship has grown so much since the training, and we now enjoy our time together even more. Highly recommend!

I was super nervous about this experience because I have never been away from my dog for a week, however the people at spot on were amazing! I got updates everyday with a short description and pictures. Bryan was amazing and was patient with both us and our dog in teaching us how to continue working with him confidently. I would absolutely recommend this training facility to anyone looking to improve their dog’s behavior!

I took my six month old bernedoodle to spot on and I wouldn’t change a single thing!! She sent me so many pictures and updates on how her training was going. When I went to pick her back up she was so well trained, I was amazed! She was very obedient but still had her personality which I loved so much. Now my dog is two and when I needed some tips about her training I texted Mike and he called back in 10 minutes flat! Showing how much he cares for his clients. I would recommend spot on to anyone who’s interested in getting a dog!

My puppy was only 5 months old going in, but after 1 week the maddening puppy disobedience subsided soooooo greatly! She's not wild anymore, she's a goofy puppy with manners. As a busy working mom this place handled the training I didn't have the time or know how to complete and in only 1 week! I highly recommend 👌

Talk about the best of the best! Mike and his team are beyond fantastic, cooperative and overall just an amazing group of people! My fiancé and I have a 7 year old pitbull named Sam, we reached out to spot on for some behavioral help and just in general training with him and in just one week they did everything they promised and more! We couldn’t be more impressed with the service they provided. Yes it is expensive but you are 100% paying for great service and outcome. Knowing that our fur baby was in great hands made the experience even better. We are extremely excited to have a place to board for future vacations knowing that our fur baby is in the best hands possible. Thank you guys again and the whole team at Spot on! I went from a dog that pulled, jumped and chased anything blowing in the wind, to a dog that I can successfully take to an assisted living where he sits and let’s all the residents pet him. And NOTHING about his personality changed. He’s still a lovable goofball. The whole team there was amazing! Worth every penny!

Mike and his team are AMAZING!!! From initial phone call, to picking up Goose our experience was excellent. Goose our Golden retriever needed some help understanding the rules, and we needed help teaching him how to do it. We were worried Goose would loose his personality or this training would change him. Not one bit, he is his usual goofy self, he just listens. Mike's facilities are spotless, his staff is so good with the dogs, they send you picture updates everyday! After picking up Goose we have called Mike a couple of times for help to properly continue to work with Goose, without hesitation he calls back and offers his help quickly. Never ever feels like you're bothering him. Goose has come so far and is very confident, is a dream to take on a walk and we cannot thank Mike and his team at Spot On! enough!! Thank you!!!

Beautiful grounds and clean facilities! Everyone who works there is so nice! The boarding area is clean and the dogs seem so happy. They aren't barking the whole time like other boarding facilities. I highly recommend Spoton for their amazing training and great care.

This is a transformative experience for both the owner and the dog. I don’t know how we lived without it. Can not recommend highly enough. Spot on trainers are competent and compassionate. It’s expensive but well worth it. The e-collar training is now recommended by the monks of new skete!

We can’t thank you guys enough!

Great staff , clean facility, and Great results! I was impressed on how much my Dog Eli learned in just a weeks stay. He’s a more mannered pup and respects us as the leader. Still have work to do , but we are confident with continuing the training at home from what we have learned! Also glad to know that they are just a phone call away 🐶

Comment with pictures of your pup waiting patiently! ❤️

Building confidence one paw at a time with Duncan! We’ve added some exciting new tools to our training toolkit, like this topple board. It’s a fantastic way to challenge balance and stability while keeping training sessions fun and engaging. Confidence-building activities like this encourage our dogs to embrace new experiences and build trust in themselves and their surroundings. Whether they’re balancing on a wobbling surface or mastering a tricky skill, every success boosts their self-assurance, helping them tackle life’s challenges with a wagging tail. Can’t wait to see our team grow even braver and bolder! ❤️🐾

Today marks Vinny’s first official day with us at Spot On Dog Training, and he’s already showing some incredible potential! We started with the basics, focusing on “come” and “place” commands, and Vinny impressed us all by quickly mastering these with hardly any leash guidance at all. For a first-day pup, he’s got amazing focus and a real eagerness to learn!
Vinny’s also picking up on our structure with an automatic sit when he get onto the place cots, showing off his ability to follow directions with patience and precision. It’s clear he’s a natural, and we’re so excited to be part of his training journey as he learns new commands and gains confidence along the way.
We’re all cheering you on, Vinny! Can’t wait to see how far you’ll go! 🌟🐶

Keep candy out of paws’ reach, especially chocolate and treats with xylitol, which can be harmful to our furry friends. If your pup loves to dress up, make sure their costume is comfortable and doesn’t restrict their movement, breathing, or vision. And if you’re heading out, leash up and add some reflective or glow gear for safety. Wishing you a fun and safe Halloween night with your furry family members! 🐕💀
